October 5, 200917 yr I assume this is possible, but I thought I'd check anyway... Basically I have a PHP file which when loaded displays a form, user selects an item from a list and clicks the submit button, the PHP script generates a CSV file for the user to download. Because the contents of the CSV file are going to be populated from a database, I want to show a jQuery progress bar when the user clicks on the submit button and I want it to disappear when the 'save file as' box comes up in their browser. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
October 6, 200917 yr Hi Sam G Just wondering how much data you're exporting into your CSV? The reason I ask is because I've recently done this for a project (the user can export leads that have been submitted between specified dates, or all leads in the database), and it doesn't take anywhere near enough time to warrant a progress bar... Maybe 1/1.5 second(s). I'm not 100%, but I don't think there is a standard method in PHP to return the status of a file upload/download. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong BenTheDesigner
October 6, 200917 yr Author Well at the moment only a few rows but could potentially be 1000s of rows of data. Just want to display a progress bar so the user doesn't think their connection to the server was lost or anything.
October 6, 200917 yr Hi Sam G I'm going to have a think about this one because there are a couple of projects I'd really like to do this for... Only thing is, I've tested the time it takes to export around 3000 rows to CSV and it only took a couple of seconds. Will update if I manage to find anything BenTheDesigner
