Having all sorts of problems

Okay this is the situation..

A client of mine has a domain name, which was up for renewal last month along with the hosting. The domain and hosting were registered separately. Their card had expired and no new details were entered so the hosting / domain expired too.

Now, the hosting is renewed, and I signed into the other account where the domain was registered. It said the domain needed to be renewed, but it gave me no option to do so, so I figured it was just no longer registered.

Now we've paid for a domain transfer with the current host to re-new the domain and keep both domain and hosting together.

It doesn't seem to be doing anything at this point, the DNS report is telling us to change the nameservers and stuff even though I actually can't.... and a whois on the domain tells me that the domain is up for auction on namejet.com - which it appears to be. (???)

What on earth is going on and how can we reclaim the domain name? Why are domains and hosting never straightforward!

You can check the renewal dates on the whois entry. If it is in the suspended/redemption period then there will be a way of renewing it.

  • 1 month later...

Let us know the domain name please. So we can check further details.
