Site Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi All I've been asked to update a site designed by someone else using tables.

The client wants to change it so it is search engine friendly, so rewrite 5 pages in XHTML and also change the text content as its not the best. Just wondering how much per page to charge for changing.

Also at the moment they have a gallery which they are able to change the images of paintings through a CMS set up with the original web designer, would it be hard to change over to another CMS.

Thanks in advance!

I'd charge this as a new design not an update, you are changing the code and the content.

Changing to a new cms shouldn't be an issue. The hardest bit will be teaching the client a new system.

Cheers Darren, I'm new to CMS so it would be a first attempt what would be involved with changing over to a new one.

ah, if you don't knwo what you're doing than I'd suggest sticking with whats there, unless there is a real reson to change.

You would need to migrate the database from the old one to the new one, or manually enter all the info.

Ok. The CMS seems to be the previous webdesigners own version, the clients now fallen out with the designer and wants me to make alterations do you think this could be a problem if the designer owns the CMS.

hmm, it could be a tricky one. You probably would be better off using a different cms.
