Getting Data On Referrals To Other Websites

Featured Replies

Hi

I have what is basically a directory site and visitors can click a link to open up an advertisers website in a new browser window. Unfortunately, most of my advertisers don't/won't bother checking their site analytics to see where their traffic is coming from so the click-throughs from my site could be in vein if I can't monitor them my end.

So, my question. Does anyone have any idea how I can monitor the traffic leaving my site and visiting my advertisers site? I don't need anything complicated, just to be able to tell the advertisers that they had 'x click-throughs' this month.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Keith

Your best bet is to set up some sort of referral system, so that when they click the link it gets sent via a certain page on your website, ie:

http://www.advertiser.com/'>http://www.advertiser.com/ ---someone-clicks---> http://www.yoursite.com/advertiser#fwd ---forwards---> http://www.advertiser.com/

You'd have a list of the amount of people visiting the "advertiser#fwd" area.
