Feedback gratefully received after I've just glued together a new homepage for my North Devon website design company. Just starting to get the hang of CSS a bit but still suffering from a bit of 'DIVitis"... Cheerio...

Hello,

I'm gonna be very honest about what I think needs to be changed.

1. The content shouldn't be centred, Try Justifying or Left Align.

2. Too much content for a homepage

3. The page looks very noisy (especially all the different types of texts, and the backgrounds.

4. The copy needs to be further looked at (few grammar errors).

5. How does the ocean relate to your web design company?

6. Too dull.. there seems to be too much grey.

What I like.

1. It's coded well.

2. Although the layout looks messy, if better use of graphics was used the layers would work well.

3. The header looks nice

4. Quick load time for me.

Thanks for the feedback.

The beach is because we are based in North Devon by sea: that is a picture of our local beach and I wanted to appeal to local businesses (er... and I just like the sea).

I think you are right that the page is too busy (that was something I'd wondered myself but tried to ignore) - I'll look into that. I like the grey though: at first there was no colour in it at all! I'll also look at ranging the text left to see what I think of that too. Thanks again.

Hmmmm, first off I thought it looked ok, then I thought it was too texty. I read the first line in the web design box and there were two errors - ok, so now I'm thinking this company doesn't pay attention to detail. The navigation drop boxes are pretty terrible, as are the fonts used for most of the site. It's like you've tried to be arty (and it could work) with a few basic everyday fonts - use some that are more interesting.

If you click on the web design example you are taken to an unfinished website. Also, have you any evidence of working with blue chip companies?

The thing I did laugh about was that you've used a very grainy colour scheme and your company is called Sharpenson Ltd.

Back to the drawing board as they say.

Thanks again for the feedback. Lots to consider...

Hi Sharpenson

Your website doesn't scream "Website Design" at me. Very dull and confused. Also from reading your about us I'd recommend showcasing the work you've done for BT, Cadbury's etc - It would look really good to somebody who hadn't heard of your company before! :)

BenTheDesigner

as some people before me has already put it - the page is a bit too messy, cluttered and filled with boring copy. The banner definitely needs to be re-thought, as does your grainy images (somebody before me mentioned the contrast to your company name). I hated your navigation drop downs too..

Sorry, I am not trying to break you down, but I did look at some of your work, and it looked trice as good as your own home page. I'd consider a total re-design, with a more focused approach and less copy cluttering the front page of your site.

Best of luck!
