I am a graphic designer but I have no experience in web design. A client contacted me to help him reestablish his website. He said that he needs a new home page and editing of the old one. So a basically a new identity of the whole web site He said that he has a programmer I can work with. I didn't want to say that I've never worked with web-design, but we all have to start somewhere

 

Please help!!! How I can present my idea to him I how I should deliver my design? If I design few pages in illustrator o in design and save it as pdf would the programmer know what to do with it?

 

Can you please describe how the collaboration usually work?

I have no problem whatsoever taking designs from .psd, .ai or .pdf. There may be issues following your designs regarding the coding however your web designer will talk these through with you.

Hi Creative09, actually best way is supplying a PSD to programmer. This is the way how web pages handling mostly. Making html and css are programmer jobs, he should has knowledge due to giving information. If you want to design a template which meets most common standards of web, please visit 960.gs you will get the idea, additionally you can preview and download free templates over the internet for box/block/image positions, typography, layouts etc. You have to design that way RGB and pixels, not CMYK and cm

So the best file I should give to a web programmer is PSD. So that means that I will build it in photoshop : file> new web doc> RGB 72 pixels> 8 bit and the just work with it?

What does the 8 bit means? And when I select 32 bit it won't let me do it for web?

"8 bit" is about the color palette, it will represent 256 colors on the palette and it's ok for web design. 72 dpi just enough, it doesn't matter for any monitor 72 or higher like 300 dpi. Result; 72 dpi 8 bit photoshop document just suits what you need start and design. No problems, if i can help you.
