Earning money online

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd ask some of you guys/girls how you are earning money online apart from the obvious freelance design work. I had a couple of ideas I want to try in order to gain a steady passive income (I think it's called :S)

Running a blog having adsense and other ads on?

Opening a cafepress shop and uploading designs?

Creating a site envato with some handy resources on and earning from ads?

Opening a white label dating site?

Sell stock imagery on istock?

A niche forum again earning from ads?

Well the list could go on but really I just want to see if I would be wasting my time or if anyone on here is earning from any of them?

Look forward to your response.

They have been done time and time again and yes, you may earn a few dollars, but unless you want to put hours and hours into writing quality articles and building a following, it wont make you a good income.

Have you considered doing the dropshipping option? would likely want a 2nd person to help you, but if done properly, that can be profitable.

I have looked into the drop ship route I like it because as a web design I already have an edge over other as setting up costs very little and I can keep my site more up to date. I went to autumn fair last week which had some great stuff and I am looking into some products at the moment.

I think there is room to make some money from that but you need to find a good niche product or a new killer one that will sell lots as the profit margins aren't great after the admin fees and general internet competition.

What were you thinking of?

When i looked at it, i was looking at having about 20 stores (so your setup fees are the webspace and domains) that would cover a wide range of areas, and then marketing them all with a big SEO campaign (which would take me near enough fulltime for 3 months)

The theory being, even if each only makes £5 a day profit, thats still £25k a year across them all.

Yes that really is using the free web deign building to your advantage as it would cost over £25k to make all of them for someone else with no web design skill. Also the hosting would be cheap just get an internet reseller account (£30 pm) and add the domains! It's just finding the products to dropship? where would you go for them?

The dropship lists I found that you have to buy are so old and outdated. I found going to trade shows was good as there are lots of new companies willing to give you some good deals.

let me know!

Chris,

Nice try, but i wont be giving out all of my sources (unless you were actually going in with me, in which case, we can discuss osmething in PM or elsewhere)

The only reason i didnt do all of the sites, was becuase i didnt have the £160 spare for the domains

I don't think dropship works as a partnership more of an individual project I think not enough money for 2 people and serious you didn't have 160 to potential earn 25k should have asked the bank lol

I put it on hold for a few months, that is all. No point asking a bank for £160, as i dont fancy borrowing anymore than my mortgage at the moment, and a loan for £160 just isnt worth the time.

£160 to earn £25k isnt a bad thing, but its also the time. If i value my time at £30/hour, then the 30 hours/week building them up, is £1200 of potential work i am losing, so that is why it is abit of a balancing act.

Hey lazytycoon just read you blog really cool some nice content there. I also what to start a similar thing as you running my own websites. I have already had some good success so it seems the way forward. :D keep writing for your blog link sniper :D

Hey thanks

I haven't updated that blog in ages, I have been way too busy testing and changing and testing and dealing with orders and customers.

I am milking this distributor dry, currently making another site selling the same products but with free shipping (shipping added to the price not really free).

What do you want to sell?

I am currently looking into an RC (remote controlled) Niche looks like it could be done it's not the most profitable but for a beginner it's a good market to start in no major players yet! I also go for brands that are hot at the moment as they are promoted by the companies with million pound campaigns then I steal them at the last minute with a google adword hehehe.

I'm guessing you us dropshippers? Know any good ones you want to share :D

I recently went to a dropship forum and no-one talks about dropshippers very strange :D

haha, im not sharing anything here.

I am planning on getting into the RC niche too.... strange... There are a lot of searches but very weak SEO competition...

I havent had any luck finding a supplier though, maybe i will when I am in HK.

Want to share any of your pervious projects?

i want to do smth similar with dropshipping. Can you guys maybe suggest to read or give me some info on what i have to do regarding taxing and related stuff

thanks
