September 4, 200917 yr I was wondering how you would spice up my design (www.GuillaumeB.com). I was thinking about a 5-10px multicolor line at the very top of the body. Not sure though . Gotta try. What would you do ? thank you very much
September 4, 200917 yr Hi, I would increase the line spacing in your text to 1.4 or 1.5em. add a little more padding around the text in the white box (after increasing its size a little). I am not convinced about your multicoloured line idea though you definaitely need some kind of contrast colour, the obvious ones would be orange or lime (but be careful of readability with these colours and only use in moderation). perhaps your logo could be in the contrasting colour Also you need a lot more content, it doesn't matter how pretty a site looks if it doesn't have content.

September 4, 200917 yr Author thanks for your reply. i did try the line thing at the top but did not like it. i may change the logo color to something more vivid, maybe light blue/cyan i do want to remain minimalist and am not looking for this personal website to be popular. therefore i don't really feel the need to add content on the homepage or do any SEO tricks. Is the font that small. On a 1440x900 definition on my MBP i can read the text just fine ? Also i'll try to change the comment form as well thanks again
September 4, 200917 yr Its not that the text is too small but if you increase the line-spacing (the gaps between the lines) it will help add a little finesse to the design, I get the whole minimalist look which is Why I wasn't convinced by multi colours. With such a simple design you need to get the little details right and make it look as though everything has been carefully thought about. Trust me on the line spacing and give it a try.
September 4, 200917 yr Author thanks I added line-height: 1.4em; to my css, Now i guess I need to add more padding I know everything has to be perfect for this simple design and sometimes i'm having a hard time stepping back
September 6, 200917 yr Bonjour, I really like the style, good work. For me the white text box is too overpowering. I'd look at keeping it with the two greys and just using a white stroke box around the text box. You could add a little splash of colour to something on the site, even just the B in your name. The info down the left could be spread out too, and maybe a heading or two. I'll have a chop about for you and post later. Excellent English by the way. Always admire people who can speak/write in different languages.
September 6, 200917 yr Author thanks for this nice reply. I see the twitter JS does not seem to load properly... damned !!! I've actually modified the background to make it look not too simple. I think i'll keep the white left DIV but might turn it from FFF to E5E5E5. The "B3 styling is a nice idea that I will have to look into as well. thanks again
