October 8, 200620 yr I am working on a job that doesn’t really require columns. On the front page, I got away with using tables. I am also using a third party (Project 7) menu for the top. For login pages which only has minimal information, I also used a table and the table is outlined (and it’s centred). I don’t really see any reason why I should use columns for the design when tables will suffice since this is a pictorial site mainly...any comments on this? I am fairly new at CSS and find the informative links provided on this website to be extremely helpful! So thank you all..

I think I've read that css layouts load more quickly than tables, but I'm not positive. Hopefully someone with more experience/knowledge will answer.
October 8, 200620 yr Author I think I've read that css layouts load more quickly than tables, but I'm not positive. Hopefully someone with more experience/knowledge will answer. This site is mainly pictorial in nature, so I imagine that tables would be the answer, unless I can achieve the same thing with CSS?
October 8, 200620 yr In my opinion you shouldn't use tables for layout unless they are data tables that contain facts/figures that need to be set out int a table that is properly labelled and coded. I would use CSS. It doesn't matter whether your site is pictorial or text based, you should use CSS for layout. There are plenty of sites out there that offer different CSS layouts for you to download and use...here are a few you might want to try as it's the best way to learn CSS - by taking a loayout and tweaking it to your own requirements: Layouts A CSS framework CSS Layouts CSS3 Multi Column CSS Layout techniques Liquid Layouts
October 8, 200620 yr Author Thank you soooo much Eskymo! But what if I want to use a table with outlines? I still need to use a table if I want to put stuff in boxes, yes?
