Panic Attack

Featured Replies

I just booted up my laptop this morning to round off the loose edges on a £2k contract that is due on Wednesday.

I just turned on and I got a huge on-screen message that simply read:

OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND.

I could of died! Luckily I turned it on and off again

That maybe a sign your hard drive is on the way out - can be caused by the drive not getting to speed quick enough. Might be worth checking the SMART status. You'll probably be able to find some freeware to do that though can't recommend anything - I use Onyx on our Macs. If it is a hard drive problem, from my experience it may become more and more regular before failing completely, though I'd back up anything important now just to be on the safe side.

Just had my own panic attack... after a torrential downpour the sun came out and started to evaporate the water on my shed roof.

Howver I saw the steam (which was quite thick) and thought the shed was on fire. :blush1: As if it would be with the rain we'd just had!

I think it's a one off to be honest marchena. Besides the HD is practically new, the laptops less than a year old and i've done my own investigations and it seems A-OK. If it frequents more then i'll just replace the drive. Heluva lot of backing up to do in that case lol.
