I have created a landing page for a student community. I am unsure if I should use it or not when the site goes fully live:

I think it depends...

 

A landing page is not good for SEO reasons, but sometimes, if used correctly, can be excellent for usability reasons.

You need to know what kind of people are going to access your site and what is the main purpose of the site... this should help you make up your mind on wether to use a landing page or not.
