June 25, 200917 yr Hi guys, i know its probably been asked like a million times but i cant seem to find a simple answer...... Here goes, A Friend of mine has asked me to take over their website as they have been waiting 2 years for anything other than an under construction page from there current host. Im no kind of expert but have used 123-reg in the past with a few small projects. So i have gone ahead and transfered the domain to 123-reg (transfer is in progress). One thing i didnt think of checking is what actually happens with the email address linked to the domain. Is that transfered with it or does it need to be re-created - if so any ideas if it will be chargable or not? thanks in advance.
June 25, 200917 yr Once your domain transfer is completed you will need to re-create your emails with new usernames and passwords. Don't forget to change your detail in your email application on your computer (eg outlook, express or other). Regards Pete

Hi, The best thing you can do is to ask him the following: - How many (POP/IMAP) accounts do you have at the old webhost? --> Did he check the accounts through a webmail client or a computer based client (like Outlook?) - Are there any redirects setup - Is there any special wishes entered in the MX record of the domain at the old domain provider? In case all go wrong I advice you to keep the domain at your preffered supplier (123-reg) but point the DNS records back to the old webhost. Everything will be as it was. And you can take your time doing this important part of a domain transfer. Goodluck, Faisj
