June 23, 200917 yr Hi guys, I am creating a style and logo usage guide for the press area of my company's website. Simply from the point of view of "looking professional", it seems that Word documents can look a little amateur. Should I create this document in InDesign rather than Word? It's purely a visual and image issue. Thoughts appreciated! Martin
June 23, 200917 yr Yes. But if it's going on the website you should print it to PDF, don't try and upload the InDesign file. You should probably do the same with the Word doc anyway, but definitely with the InDesign one.
June 23, 200917 yr I would say if it is classed as Design then use inDesign (or QuarkXpress personally). Never ever use word for anything other than letters/faxes etc... is the rule of thumb
June 23, 200917 yr Er, is there a strong reason to not just make an HTML page? Or am I missing the point?
June 23, 200917 yr I would imagine that as it is for the press area it needs to be a downloadable. We had to do loads of them for Chelsea FC last year - all stuff for the press to keep on their hard drive etc...
June 23, 200917 yr Author Yes I would always print to PDF for web delivery... Sorry I didn't make that clear It's more a company image issue than a technical one. We are a small company, and image and "branding" is very important in the market we are in. To answer the HTML question - I would rather it were downloadable. Also, having it as a "document" (although i know a web page is a document ) enables me to lay things out the way I want, and embed vector graphics for clarity. M
June 23, 200917 yr In which case I think InDesign is likely to produce better results than Word - and be nicer to use too
