Would you charge for a tutorial?

Featured Replies

If you were setting up a CMS for a website, would you charge for an hours tutorial time on how to use the system?

I'm providing a free PDF how to guide but just wondered if you would charge for this.

if it involves your time, and its not in the brief for the project then yes, you are providing a pdf to help them, but if they do want a hands on tutorial then it would be a nominal hourly rate

It depends on how in depth it is, if it's your decision and not theirs to use the CMS, then I wouldn't stray too far from the first quotation, and write up a tutorial yourself. I do it everytime with a CMS, one day I will have a template for everyone, but until then I'm just doing it for free.

Its their decision to have the CMS as they have no idea about web design etc... tbh I won't charge for this one as he is a friend / fellow freelancer, but just curious if anyone else does and in what situation :)

I give all of my clients a free BASIC pdf guide, but offer one-on-one training and/or screencasts at an extra cost.

Seems to work for me :)
