critique needed for church website design

Featured Replies

Okay, I don't know any Slovak (this is in Slovak, right? ) so my opinion only focuses on the visuals. And the assessment? Not so good. :(

If you hadn't told us, I would not have known this was a website for a church. Design-wise there is nothing inherently wrong with the site, but it looks like a template and nothing more. IMHO a church website should look religious-y - not bright orange/blue, no life preserver logo (what's that got to do with religion?), no web 2.0 look, etc. (Unless, of course, this is a VERY liberal church!)

So I think the design is fine but not for your clients or your target audience.

yes it is in Slovak:)

there will be 3 different headings... church, center, community... and this header is for community.... this church is doing things for the community (mothers cener, kids care, homeless people etc...)

that is the reason why this image does not look religious...

The design is alright and the life ring & the hands on the bottom make sense with your last reply.

But would it still not be a good idea to make the design more focused because still it does look a bit templatish and is not self descriptive.

The foreign language makes it harder for us unless you were to explain the sites content in more detail but, as you implied, this is community related through the church, would it not be relevant to have community focused imagery on the site?

I'm with FizixRichard on the content. Without knowing what the content says, its hard to judge the impact of the images. The general layout seems ok and the page seems well balanced. The only quibble I would have is with the blue overlaps at the edges. Almost as if you've forgotten to trim the wallpaper off.
