June 4, 200917 yr Hi guys, I hope you can help. Over the last few weeks I have been re-vamping my personal portfolio. As I don't code websites I downloaded a few basic web templates to try them out and see if they would work with my content. The first few didn't but eventually I settled on a layout I like and then manipulated it until I was happy... daniel-sharp.co.uk So, background info over, here is the problem: One of the templates I uploaded initially (through my FTP Client) was Chamberlands Restaraunt v.1 by Code-Sucks.com. After some 'meddling' I decided it wasn't working, and so I deleted all the files off the server and uploaded another template. After checking my result on Google by searching for "daniel-sharp.co.uk", I was confused to find I was listed as: "Code-Sucks.com - Free Layouts - Chamberlands Restaraunt v.1 Logo Design; Website Design; Print; Hosting; Events; Reservations; Directions; Chamberlands Careers; Events; Reservations; Events; Reservations ... www.daniel-sharp.co.uk/ - 4k - Cached - Similar pages" There are absolutley no files on the server relating to this template, so where is Google getting this info from? Does it reset after a few days, or is there something I specifically need to do to change it? Any help is really appreciated
June 4, 200917 yr Hi Daniel, you must always make sure that you change the <title></title> tag in the <head> section of your website, which at the moment will appear like this: <title>Code-Sucks.com - Free Layouts - Chamberlands Restaraunt v.1</title> You then need to change the meta description: <meta name="description" content="place description here" /> Obviously the changes won't appear immediately because you have to wait for Google to search your site, and there will be cached pages that need to be refreshed etc.
June 4, 200917 yr Edit I've had a look at your website and you have changed these, so it's just a matter of waiting. If you use the Google Webmasters tool, then you can add the website, verify it, and remove all cached/indexed pages and start afresh.

Ahhh I see, so Google has taken the info from the last index.html and said, right that's your title and description, and hasn't scanned the site again yet to find the new info? Gotcha!
