New here and straight in with a question! Hope this is OK :-)

 

I'm completely clueless when it comes to web design, so I really need some help with something that's probably simple.

 

Problem is, I dunno how to describe it, which means its hard to google for tutorials on it when you dont know what its called!!

 

I'm a photographer and trying to create a site for my portfolio and services etc.

 

The site I've designed uses a background image of one of my portraits. I took this into Fireworks, and created some buttons with rollovers down each side, and exported the slices etc.

 

I now want to have all my pages load within a frame in the centre of the page.

 

In ye olde-days, I used to centre an image on a page by creating a single celled table, which was centered and pasting the fireworks code into that. Now I know this should probably be done in CSS but I dont really know how, so I stuck to the way I did know. It's been 10 years since I put any kind of web page together, so forgive my crudeness at this step.

 

Anyway - I have no idea how to create a fixed frameabove my background that I can link to each button so that it loads different content. I need to make sure the central frame doesn't move around according to the size of the browser as well.

 

Can anyone advise? I've attached a screenshot of the design, so hopefully that will help make things a little clearer.

 

(I'm using DW & FW CS4 btw)

Hi NeRo and thanks for that.

 

I appreciate it can fix the need for centering using table cells, but I'm still really unsure what to do to get the content for my site in place in Dreamweaver. I'm going to stick with the table cells for now, because it's done and working for the moment. Once I find my feet a bit more I can go back and re-do this to be more efficient.

 

I've 10 pages generated from Fireworks, all with working links to each other etc.

 

Now i need the "content" panel in the centre of the site.

 

I feel really stupid here I've not used DW or FW in more years than I care to recall.

 

I dont know what i need to do to generate this central frame on each page where my content is going to go! I tried creat

 

(as an idea there are 10 pages in total. One being the entry/home page, the four down one side (the right part of the design) need a text blurb in them. The Get in touch bit needs a contact form. And the five on the left side need an embedded photo gallery (i was going to use SimpleViewer or something) )

 

So what I need help in is basically:

 

How do I add this "editable panel" in the middle of the site on each page.

How do I make sure the content of this panel doesn't move when the browser is resized.

 

Sorry, but I'm a complete numpty when it comes to this stuff now, and the fact I'm just not understanding where I need to start with this bit is frustrating me no end!
