Tracking who clicks on what

Featured Replies

Hi All

Can someone tell me whether it is possible to track who clicks on what links if you send a page by e-mail?

We're trying to create a html newsletter and would like to know which of our customers click on the links within the e-mail and also which links they click on?

Any help would be apreciated!

Thanks

Kerstey

hmm, could you not just monitor the page hits that your linking too?

so for example you send the newsletter out then you see within the first couple of hours if you have a boom in hits, i wouldnt be exact but it would give you a pretty good indication

there may be another solution though, if you direct them to a certain page on your website for example www.yoursite.com/redirect then than page directs them to the page you want them to view, you can setup a logger on the page that there viewing, then it would tell you in the logger text document if they got redirected from www.yoursite.com/redirect then you will be able to distinguish who can came off the email and who has come from a search engine or just directly came to the page. you could probably set up a bunch of redirect pages for different links redirect1 redirect2 ect.

hope this helps,

Kyle.

At work, we use a mailing company called Silverpop to send out all our mailers. They provide the hyperlink tracking functionality. If you wanted to do it yourself, I'd imagine having to mess around with some back-end functionality or have each link point to a unique place and track it manually via google analytics or similar?
