April 10, 200917 yr Hi guys, I am about to commence my project, wish me luck! The site is for an artist I work with, he wants his site re-designed as he feels his current one looks a bit bland at the moment, here is the link http://www.portraitsbytosh.co.uk/. I am fairly confident I can design a site layout that will look more professional and attractive, however there are a few questions I have with regards to coding. As this is a gallery site, should I stick with a fixed width layout as the current one is? He would like a lightbox effect incorporated, is this hard to implement? What screen resolution should I design for? Any help would be great!! Loads of questions flying around my head, just don't know where to begin! Thanks in advance. P.S. I may post some Jpegs of site mock ups for crit, hope you can help there aswell.
April 10, 200917 yr Hi! Lightbox isn't too hard to implement and there are loads of versions out there which you can modify to suit. heres one If your using a lightbox gallery I would say it won't matter too much whether the site is fixed or liquid layout as the lightbox appears on top of the page. there are e few different opinions on what screen size to design for but I would say around 950px should cover you? or if you go for a liquid layout you could set it for a minimum width of 950px that way the users with bigger screens will benefit too. good luck look forward to havin a look at it.
