Featured Replies

Hi I run a small website firm in Bedford called Cow & Monkey our current site is www.cowandmonkey.co.uk and we are putting together a new design and would like your thoughts

We are doing two different versions of the site the "Monkey" version and "Cow" version giving the user the choice

Cow version with layout "2" option

Look forward to your thoughts

im not sure of the pink, the name of the site congers up greens and blues.

you have a nice layout though

the layout is very nice, i think the pink looks good and goes and fits but as J.P. said, doesn't really go with the topic. The base layout is very nice i wouldn't change very much other then the colours, but i think you should change the header i dont really like how its pixelated doesn't really fit.

I really like the banners - the cow and monkey images, and I love the way the viewer can choose which version of the site they look at - thats a fun concept that automatically says - creative, imaginative etc.

I thought the rest of the design looked heavy and cluttered tho and I think the pink could be made to work effectively if the pages were lifted a bit and looked cleaner with a bit more space between things.

Overall it's bordering on the funkily elegant, which could be a good thing.

i really like it,

I agree with the guys on the colour scheme however love the duel site/ duel slogan idea. Is this based on a template or have you done it from scratch?

Good work.

Crammy

It's not bad but certainly needs improvement. I think it looks a little rough around the edges.

Layout

Firstly, the menu cutting off where it does (3/4 of the way along) and the space between the buttons bugs me. I think it would look better if the menu buttons met and if the menu either spanned the full content area or if it cut off in a more fluid style.

Secondly, I don't know if the gradient either side of the content is deliberate but to me it doesn't look right being so hard. It's like when you have a GIF for an image but there aren't enough colours to complete the gradient.

Thirdly, the final row of graphical layout in the header, where it meets the flat colour background. It looks pixelated.

Ultimately these things make the design look rough, if that makes sense.

The general layout is good and in the graphic link version I don't think it looks too cluttered, although you could space the content out a bit. I personally believe more vertical scroll is better than cramming it all in.

For the other two versions, I think a 2 column layout would be better, maybe prioritising your content and moving it into two cols.

Personally I would put it into two columns with "who are we" at the top left, featured projects under that and then the cow and money for business stuff under that.

Also you could put the larger featured work above the news (as most people probably aren't going to be too interested in your news, more the featured works stuff).

Colour Schemes

I think the pink glares out too much, but I hate pink so I'm biast there. However I don't mind the pink text you have used.

Other Things

I don't like your slogan "We're outstanding in our field", I get the joke but at first glance it looks like a generic slogan from a template. I like the "no more monkeying around" slogan though, just would work on the cow one.

It's good but needs work I think.

all the pink and the shine on the text and stuff makes it looks like a ringtone website.
