March 7, 200917 yr Ok I have been very stupid. I wanted to update the blog (wordpress) version on my first website and basically deleted the wordpress folder from the server. I have created a new database on MySQL for the new version as I couldn't find the password for the one for the older version. I have since found it out. Basically I need to (I think) move all the info from the old database to the new one as atm all the posts have gone. Am I right in saying that all the posts and info etc will be on the database or would it all have been in the folder on the server? I know I have been a very silly girl but I really need someone's help to put it right. I would like to sort this out myself with guidance from someone rather than someone to do it all for me. So you will have to be patient if you want to help I am prepared to pay a little bit if necessary to get on top of this. Thanks guys.
March 7, 200917 yr Hi there Can you see your old database in phpmyadmin, can you access it in any way. Pat
March 7, 200917 yr have you got the old database available to you? if you dont, do have the following info:- what accsess do you have? (root or user) do you use a web panel to admin your hosting, if so which one?
March 7, 200917 yr if you have accses to the old database, forget the new database and remove it later, make a new user to connect to mysql and give it permission to use the old database, then goto the install url but change install.php to upgrade.php, give the updater the info for the new database user and bob's your uncle your back online. [EDIT: no reward needed btw.... for me at least ]
March 7, 200917 yr Author WOW quick response! Yes i can access it - i'll add a snapshot here so u can see what i can see. I access it through namesco cpanel.

March 7, 200917 yr Author Thanks snider for the info....not quite sure how I do that....is there nothing on my new database that i need to save? Not sure how to create a new user give permissions lol or any of the other stuff. I am a bit freaked by the cock up i have made by going in blind ... me silly moo! I think i can remove the new database... but guidance needed for the rest.
March 7, 200917 yr WOW quick response!Yes i can access it - i'll add a snapshot here so u can see what i can see. I access it through namesco cpanel. Up on the top tabs you have one that says export, click that, then scroll to bottom of page, select save as file then put any name in the filename template box, then press go, this will save a text file with a .sql extension. once you have done that we will have a copy of your database Pat
