March 1, 200917 yr Currently revamping my portfolio again in a bid to finally have a site I will be happy to upload and show people lol. It's mainly for showing some design samples but will also be used as a design diary/blog. The illustration is just rough atm, still needs some work - I'm focusing on the layout, colours etc atm - any tips/advise/critism will be welcomed. Not sure on where I should position the menu - should I create something just under the banner, or down the side - the only problem I can see with the side being on a 1024 resolution the menu will cover up the main part of the illustration. Thanks in advance for any comments.
March 1, 200917 yr It's quite cool - I think I like it. But you wanted feedback, so here we go: 1. The main body text is way too faint and probably one size too small. Many people will struggle to read it. 2. I suggest the menu could go in the top left of your grey logo banner - at the opposite corner from your site title. Just something simple with words separated by vertical lines would probably look good. 3. I actually like the illustration - don't refine it too much! 4. Your logo, with the smaller text either side of the "j" descender, is very nice. What's the font, I'm curious? There you go - all just my own views of course.
March 1, 200917 yr Author Thanks for the feedback The body text looks awful in that jpg as the anti-aliasing is turned off in Photoshop, will be much better when I get to coding the site. The illustrator will just be a few minor changes and tidying up, like adding some detail to the pavement, like cracks, weeds etc to make it look a bit less sterile. Good thinking on the menu, the banner is a bit plain at the minute, was toying with the idea of adding some graphical elements to it but im struggling to think of something relevant to add other than a cityscape but thats a bit overused these days - the menu should liven it up a bit. The font is called 'Steiner' - you can download it free here: http://www.dafont.com/font.php?file=steine...mp;classt=alpha
March 1, 200917 yr I REALLY like it all - agree with above comments. For the navigation I think under the banner would be good or could you incorperate it somehow into the image on the left?
March 1, 200917 yr The full size version wouldn't load for me - probably an internet glitch - but squinting at the reduced one in your post suggests that it will look extremely good.
March 13, 200917 yr Author Got most of the content added now - just a few wee minor things to correct. Anyone any idea why the sidebar content is appearing below the content on the research & creative pages located in the design diary? - In IE6 only of course. It seems the images on those pages are forcing the sidebar to the bottom, although the images are no bigger than the content area.
