anyone want to help create a facebook rival

Rockstar, what do you mean FB allows no customisation? I'd say having its own development platform makes it very customisable.

Yeah people who are married/in a relationship are always blaming social networks sites if anything goes wrong in their relationship. I've been there!

Probably these kinda sites are for singles only lol

Social networking sites don't wreck relationships. People wreck relationships - and then look for something else to blame... actually that may have been your point :)

Social networking sites induce paranoia in the insecure = relationships crumble and burn to dust

I 'Facebook doesn't even break even'. That doesn't mean it isn't a profitable company,

I dont know if you have any idea of profit/loss, but if it "doesnt even break even" then it isnt a profitable company.

Profitable in an investment sense. I don't know if you have any idea of the English language, but...

prof⋅it⋅a⋅ble

   /ˈprɒfɪtəbəl/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [prof-i-tuh-buhl] Show IPA

–adjective

1. yielding profit; remunerative: a profitable deal.

2. beneficial or useful.

I have always wanted to do it but i have no php skills, i can create graphics and webpages but not do the php stuff

so the question is , would anyone like to help create a rival to the mighty facebook?

it can be done :D

No.

you cant beat facebook! the only rival that facebook has is mypsace! before u can start thinking of trying to compete with facebook maybe you'll have to challenge all the little ones first like bebo etc.. ;)

@Shaun...

If you say "company X is profitable" then you mean that it earns more than it spends.

If you say "it might be profitable for me to invest in company X", that's completely different and makes no comment about the company's actual financial profitability.

You meant the second, but you said the first, which is why ReaperWD challenged you.

</pedantry>

God, I'm turning into John Humphries...

But I didn't say the former!

That doesn't mean it isn't a profitable company

(...to invest in)

I just said the latter but paraphrased. I didn't think I needed to put "to invest in". But I guess people didn't get it... so I should have. But I think the fact that I put "Even if Facebook doesn't even break even" before that sentence, kind of gives away the fact the company does not profit, therefore I must have been referring to the "Beneficial/Useful" meaning of the word 'Profitable' in the next sentence.

Sometimes on forums, people will read too much into something or not read enough.
