February 20, 200917 yr It all depends what's required. I've been designing and developing websites on and off for the last 12 years and I'm still learning and always will be. XHTML took a month or so and the same with CSS but I'm still learning new things every day.
February 20, 200917 yr Author cheers its taken me 2months to get my head round html and css still learning though how do peple who give a way free templates make money ?why do they do it surely you would make more money selling the design than from advertising .

Depends on the project, for example my portfolio took months to build, but that was mainly down to me never being happy with the design, however my boyfriends site only took about 3 hours to design and code...but it helped that I knew what he wanted and also had all the content for it. But normally with clients content and small design changes often making building sites a lot longer to do. how long did it take you to learn web design ? I have been doing web design for around 10 years now, and I still don't know it all, you never will, its one of those great things about web design, you will always learn something new, a better way of doing something, or have those little moments where something clicks. How long did it take to learn a language ? It varies and like with any language you can always improve on how you do things, so you will find that even when things click and you get it, you will still be able to improve and learn how to develop new things. As for learning the basics this is something that is depending on the person, some people will get it right away others it will take a bit of time. So don't worry if it is taking you a little longer than others on here once you get the hang of the basics the more advanced stuff will make sense and you will fly through it how do peple who give a way free templates make money ?why do they do it surely you would make more money selling the design than from advertising . Look at it this way most people who give a way free templates make it a requirement to have a link back to their site in the footer, the more people who use the templates the more links to the site, the more traffic to the site the more desirable the site is for people to pay for advertising the more you can charge.
