Hi guys, I am new to this site, and to the web design community. Me and my Brother have recently built a site(with help). I am just curious how people feel my layout is working. I also am wondering if any one can see any crucial flaws in the sites structure! If you wish you may comment on our sites idea, but I'm more concerned about the sites integrity and structure. Ewww tables, that's something that should be fixed.

 

You might want to set a background colour because it looks awful when your gradient ends and it goes to white.

 

Horizontal scrollbar is never good (my res is 1280x1024)

 

Inline styling is bad practice.

 

Layouts not bad, aesthetically it's very mundane, looks like a default portal layout with colour tweeks to me.

 

Nothing appeals to me, theirs no reason why i would join, or even venture further than the first page.

 

Why would i? It's not going to benefit me is it?

 

You need to grab people, tell them why they should join, how it's gonna help them etc. etc.

I'm sorry don't quite understand the term "incline styling", judging by the reaction, I really want to get rid of it. Also, how are you getting a horizontal scroll? I'm also running at 1280, but all i have is a vertical scroll down.

 

Yes the content atm is lacking quite a bit, its the 5th day up and we are trying to quickly conjure up some times.

This website looks great and it appeals to me immediately.

 

Once you get it snorted about - the membership will increase and I will give you a tip.

 

Keep the faces smiling on the Home Page, because that looks more inviting.

The site has potential, however it has alot of flaws and nothing is very appealing.

 

You could do with creating a new header/logo, it does not really potray anything and is very boring!

 

The background seems to stop which is not a good thing, try making the3 background colour the same as the one at the bottom of your gradient image.

 

The use of fonts are not that appealing either with arial in some places, then fonts that dont fit in others, plus whats with the big blue link in the right corner, not nice!

 

And don't even get me started on the tables, just read what was said above !!

I have windows sidebar running, which takes up about an eight of a screen.

 

Alot of people run less then 1280 width though.

Ahh, i see. I will definitely look in to that. As far as tables, are you saying its not good to have these borders showing? If not, how else should I go about displaying this information? Thanks again guys, I appreciate it all very much.

 

As far as content, I am hoping to get some stock information, or perhaps link some articles from business sites etc..

i think this typoe of site will do well due to marketing not visual appeal, also faces smiling and bodies topless.

Ya we have a lot of designing left to think out. Things just started getting busy real fast. Our visits are finally starting to show a steady avg. Users are starting to talk to one another, and people are signing up, its nice.

 

Working on a banner right now, but im just not sure where to take it. Not sure what color scheme to follow...Any suggestions on that would be great. I am going to post my current banner later today. Thanks a lot guys.
