PHP GD or ImageMagick

Featured Replies

Getting into image resizing with GD in PHP but it never seems to resize with great quality, even with compression set on highest quality.

Any recommendations to get better quality on JPEG resizing? Should I try ImageMagick

I'm a big fan of The GIMP.

First attracted to it because I laughed at its name, but it is rather awesome imaging software once you get used to it. Resizing images is just one thing you could use it for.

Generally most image-software will be able to resize images with great detail. Things that do it server-side never really work that well (with some amazing exceptions), look about if you want for some software, but again I'd recommend the good 'ol GNU Image Manipulation Program :)

ImageMagick is a server side solutions...and yes..it is more versatile and better than GD....

there are other softwares like EasyThumbnail also available that will give u quick / easy but professional resizing options. they have a few very good algorithms.

i personally use photoshop....it works with all format of images, png and jpg.

I need to resize images server side in particular.

I just read that there was a GD function called imagecreatetruecolor...might try this out. Shouldn't this be turned on by default anyways?

Edit: If that doesn't work out I might check out the imagick another day...but still hoping this works ^^

you can also try phpThumb php library

you can resize the pictures by merely using the class and a few functions ..

i think it has option for ImageMagick and GD...

instead of learning ImageMagick, the library will do all the work for you....and it is easy to us and quality is excellent

try it....
