December 12, 200817 yr I'm going to purchase a book about SEO so that I can expand my knowledge of it, any ideas what the best book is to buy? I don't really do PHP, otherwise I would've bought The Professional SEO Optimization for PHP book. I'm also looking at SEO For Dummies and SEO: An Hour A Day. Any ideas?
December 12, 200817 yr Hi There, I consider myself to be quite an SEO expert and I buy those books to make sure that I agree with everything they say. I do recommend the PHP one you have bought, as it really does go to town on optimisation for PHP including .htaccess tips etc for SEO url rewriting. If you are looking for a general SEO BIBLE then the best one I have ever found is the one in my signature. "Get to the top and stay there".
December 12, 200817 yr Okay, let's just quickly go through them: Professional Search Engine Optimization with PHP: A Developer's Guide to SEO (Programmer to Programmer) ^^ Brilliant - I do recommend the PHP one you have bought, as it really does go to town on optimisation for PHP including .htaccess tips etc for SEO url rewriting. Search Engine Optimization for Dummies ^^ Great book if you know absolutely NOTHING about SEO. - But please remember that it's quite limited and patronising. Search Engine Optimization: An Hour a Day Makes sense this book, good pointers and I do agree with everything that this book covers, but they do miss some vital points out.
December 18, 200817 yr Author So which of the group do you suggest for someone who doesn't use PHP in every single website?? I just want to get my head around it and stuff. I mainly use CSS & XHTML for my websites.
December 18, 200817 yr If you're willing to splash out, there's the SEO kit by Sitepoint. It's pricy but from what I've read so far, it's comprehensive, no-nonsense, comes with a CD of resources and written by SEO dons, so you could do a lot worse!
December 20, 200817 yr If you're willing to splash out, there's the SEO kit by Sitepoint. It's pricy but from what I've read so far, it's comprehensive, no-nonsense, comes with a CD of resources and written by SEO dons, so you could do a lot worse! I have never tried any of the Sitepoint tools but I have heard that they are very expensive. So which of the group do you suggest for someone who doesn't use PHP in every single website?? I just want to get my head around it and stuff. I mainly use CSS & XHTML for my websites. It doesn;t make any difference. The PHP SEO book (the red one) covers on-site SEO from all point of view and the Get to the top of google book covers all different SEO techniques, on and off site. You're better off buying both!
