I just did a redesign (pro bono, to be used in my portfolio) for a cat rescue organization that I help out with and was wondering if it was okay.

The old site was very haphazard - each page added was a different design, textures, colours (or none), full of cute clip art and floating snowflakes, etc. My job was to give it a more coherent look and organize it. I only have a few websites under my belt - but really want to make a career of this.

 

The organization was anxious to get it up, so it is but I would still like to make some changes.

 

There are still a few issues:

 

The code used to insert the flash banner doesn't validate, because someone gave it to me, and I have no idea what it all means yet.

 

On the 'foster' page the paypal link is in an unordered list, so this list doesn't validate (a block level element insided a <li>), but I don't know how to achieve the same effect easily another way.

 

The stories are too long, so I would like to truncate them, with a link to the full version using "Read more ...".

 

Could you please give me your honest (but kind opinion). I will do my best to make any improvements you suggest. Thanks.

i love the hole site especially the banner, the only thing i thought was a bit forcefull was on the "our cats" page you'v put "Contact us when you are ready!" meaning that someone is actually going to adopt a cat instead of leaving it to there own descision its kind of forcefull.

 

And you don't want to force someone to get a cat that could end up in the same postion it was before it was rescused

Thanks for your comments. The content came from the old site, and you made a good point with the "Contact us when you are ready." I will check with the person in charge of the organization to see if she would be willing to go with something less forceful.
