October 28, 200817 yr Hi, What do you guys think to site wide links? I have a lot of contacts with sites, that I could *persuade to give me a site wide link. In the past i've seen good results from these, but i'm hearing they're a bad idea. How at any point could Google penalise for such links? They have been around since the start of the web!
November 1, 200817 yr i can see why there is some miss understanding with sitewide links, its bad in the sense that if you have alot of them that change alot google will get you for selling links. sitewide links though are fine, i to have had great results from these as long as it is a long term link i don't see a problem hope that helps
November 1, 200817 yr Hi, You won't be penalised for having site-wide links as far as I am aware, they just don't hold as much weight as they used to. It's much more preferable to have 300 links from 300 different sites, than having 600 links from one site. Deep links are great though. Remember, when creating backlinks it's the anchor text which is important and decides the quality of the link as well as the page rank of the page it is coming from, and whether the page is relevant to your keywords/keyphrases.
November 1, 200817 yr just to make it clear they do penalise paid links as this is PR selling which is not within the rules, and the reason they brought out trustrank a un published figure not often talked about but an interesting google patent document to read. because of PR sellers they have decreased the value of sitewide links but they do still make a noticeable difference from a decent trusted site. just make sure these sitewide links are not mixed with paid liks as you would be asking for trouble

November 11, 200817 yr just make sure these sitewide links are not mixed with paid liks as you would be asking for trouble exactly, I have sitewids on a few of my sites, with links directed at other sites. Have never seen any harm come from them.
November 20, 200817 yr I really do not think adding site wide links can harm rankings or damage the websites placements in the search engines but the matter is the ratio of the links. For example, nothing will go wrong if an old website which has already many powerful links establishing new site wide links.
