Hi guys,

just started my own company, would appreciate any comments or reviews on my sample work at www.yodspica.com

Thanks

Code wise:

- http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%...lidator%2F1.591

- im not 100% sure, as I more design than develop, but aren;t you saying the same thing twice:

<!--[if IE 5]>

<style type="text/css">

/* place css box model fixes for IE 5* in this conditional comment */

.twoColFixRtHdr #sidebar1 { width: 220px; }

</style>

<![endif]-->

<!--[if IE]>

<style type="text/css">

/* place css fixes for all versions of IE in this conditional comment */

.twoColFixRtHdr #sidebar1 { padding-top: 30px; }

.twoColFixRtHdr #mainContent { zoom: 1; }

/* the above proprietary zoom property gives IE the hasLayout it needs to avoid several bugs */

</style>

<![endif]-->

- you should take those elements of CSS and Javascript and place them in external files like your AC_RunContent for your flash header.

Design wise:

1) I have a personal inability to comprehend sites that sit to the left...center it! for my sanity!

2)You have a google ads box underneath your footer? that will a)make you no money in such a poor placement b)makes you seem very unprofessional c)they are generating 'customer satisfaction ads'??

3)the whole design seems a little unfocused...

- you have a green glass bevel staff pics box? and no other glass/bevel elements anywhere else - link is broken?

- your top banner, doesn't scream 'pro web design' to me but screams 'i just got photoshop'

- you have mixed many different font types... you should try stick to 2... you have TNR i thnk down the right, arial down the left, 3 more in the header and then your flash banner has even more, your nav starts as Arial and then switches to Verdana? it all feels a little disjointed

- the flash banner imo would look much better just functioning as a repeating slideshow without the grey ball controls. why flowers? you should rinse istockphoto for some office shots in my opinion etc. Or even place previous work instead.

4)forum and research are broken.

5)no favicon

6)I feel like the site is a flower/gardening website. Too many flower pictures/nature etc.

I would personally re-design the site.. for current trends and great inspiration, I reccommend visiting CSSMania.com, designmeltdown.com and cssfx.net

hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply Acuity, very helpful. :clapping:

I do like the flash ball controls, as it gives the user some control.

Replace you flash with an accessible JavaScript alternative. Google CodaSlider.

I admit I like flash to, but the more I learn about css and javascript the more I think for most things like your using flash for you can always use javascript instead. Check out jquery and mootools.
