For some reason, on my blog, the first "Comments" link will not clear the bottom of the sidebar menu. It's kind of hard to explain, so here's a picture: The blue bar should be flush with the content above it. But it seems to be getting caught on the yellow menu on the right. I can not for the life of me figure out why this is happening. The html is generated by Wordpress. Thanks in advance for any tips you can give me in figuring this out.
  4. Do they exist? Trying to finalize this font stack to finish a design. Appreciate your help.
  5. You should check out the "head first" html book. CSS is pretty easy to learn and that book will explain almost everything you need to know fairly quickly.
  6. Hi, I'm writing a simple php shopping cart app and I need a way to let users change their info if they make any mistakes. Here's what the checkout process looks like: ENTER ADDRESS, ETC. ---> ENTER PAYMENT DETAILS, ETC. ---> REVIEW THEN SUBMIT ---> DONE When the customer is on the third page I want them to see all the information they've entered so far and then have an easy way to edit it. Does anyone know the best way to implement the editing part? I'd prefer if they didn't have to go back to previous pages to do this. Thanks.
  7. Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. I'm at the stage where I have a two websites which have not converged at all. One is the shopping cart website and the other one is my website with no shopping cart. If my situation was a Venn diagram, it would be a picture of two circles which do not meet and myself standing in the center, very angry. I've read all the documentation for open cart. And unless I'm missing something there isn't much of it. The wiki is bare and the documentation on the website mostly just outlines how to install the software and how to use the admin GUI. I posted this same question on the open cart forums and either no one knows or no one cares or both because no one has replied to the post. If I'm missing the content you're referring to, please let me know rallport. It seems that open cart uses a template system. If this is the only way to use open cart then I should probably look for a lighter-weight cart software. I didn't spend hours and hours perfecting my html and css to completely rewrite it for a template.
  8. I'm trying to integrate Open Cart into my existing XHTML layout. Does anyone have any experience doing this and can point me in the right direction? I posted this one another forum and people just basically tell me to "figure it out" which isn't very helpful. Here is the softare: http://opencart.googlecode.com/files/opencart_v1.4.7.zip

  10. It took about 30 seconds to install MAMP and it does everything I want. If only I had known sooner.. Thanks for your help.
  11. I did it piecemeal and it was very painful. I'm looking at the MAMP website now and yeah, you're right. It looks much, much better. ... Linux users must be masochists. These last few days have been brutal. I will post an update after trying out MAMP.
  12. Hi everybody. Ok, here's the problem I hope you can help me with: Day 1) I need to test a shopping cart on my local server. I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8. I set up PHP and MySQL and everything is working just dandy. I find it's pretty easy to set up on mac. Day 2) I search for a shopping cart and find open cart, an open source cart software distribution. I begin installing it when the installation tells me my server is missing the GD module. Day 3) Attempt to install the GD module. Day 4) Attempt to install the GD module. ... Day 11) Attempt to install the GD module... Finally install the GD module. Attempt to restart the open cart installation and... I see PHP code on the screen. PHP broke. I'm really not sure what to do next. Despite making it this far, I really don't know much about any of these technologies or how they work. I'm hoping a web developer who's been here before can help me. This is really becoming a nightmare. Thanks for reading and your help.
  13. The float left thing worked. I made the image smaller just in case, too. Thanks.

  15. Hi. I was hoping someone could look at my code and tell me how to make my website more consistent across browsers. For the most part, my css works fine. It looks right in most modern browsers as far as I know. In Firefox, for example, the header looks like this (as it should): http://imgur.com/QteZr.png However, in some other browsers, such as MSIE 7, my head appears in the wrong position, as you can see here: http://imgur.com/zEsVV.png Here is the html: <body> <div class="wrapper"> <div id="hwrap"> <div class="header"> <p id="headercontent"> <img alt="..." src="img/header.png" id="headerpng" /> <a href="mailto:..." class="faceover" id="emailface" title="..."></a> Fragmented thoughts, bright colors and scenes of indeterminate consequence presented by one of nature's <span id="worldpop"></span> important snowflakes. </p> </div> </div> <div class="spacer"></div> <div id="main" class="clearfix"> Here is the css: *{ margin:0; padding:0; } html, body, #wrapper{ height:100%; font: 14px Arial,Helvetica,Tahoma,Verdana,Sans-Serif; color:#666; } body > #wrapper{ height: auto; min-height: 100%; } body{ background:#ebe9e1; } #main{ padding-bottom:396px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; width:1002px; } #dreamtag{ width:1002px; margin:0 auto; top:-49px; position:relative; } #dreamimg{ margin-left:30px; } .footer{ position:relative; margin-top:-396px; height:390px; clear:both; background:white; background-image:url(img/footer-cf4.png); background-position:55% 100%; background-repeat: no-repeat; border-top:1px solid #e1dfd5; } .clearfix:after{ content: "."; display: block; height: 0; clear: both; visibility: hidden; } .clearfix{ display:inline-block; } * html .clearfix{ height:1%; } .clearfix{ display:block; } .header{ background:white; border:1px solid #e1dfd5; text-align:center; padding:0px 19px 16px 19px; width:962px; margin:0 auto; } .photos, .words{ background:white; border:1px solid #e1dfd5; padding:20px; } .words{ width:638px; } .photos{ width:260px; float:right; text-align:center; } .spacer{ padding:10px; } .spacer2{ padding:40px; } .post{ background-image:url("img/writing.jpg"); background-repeat:no-repeat; } .post p{ line-height:180%; text-indent:26px; } .bullet{ height:33px; width:83px; background-image:url("img/bullet.jpg"); background-repeat:no-repeat; margin:0 auto; padding: 20px 0; background-position:50% 50%; } h1{ font: 36px Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; color:#000; position:relative; left:54px; } h2{ font: 18px Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; color:#222; position:relative; left:10px; margin:12px 0px 6px 0px; } ul{ padding:8px 0 22px 0; list-style-type: none; } li{ line-height:180%; font-size:110%; margin:0 0 0 50px; padding-left:18px; margin-right:7px; border-bottom: 1px dotted #ccc; color:#333; } .date{ position: relative; left:34px; padding-bottom:14px; font-size:90%; color:#9f9f9f; width:50%; } blockquote{ width:80%; background:#f5e9fe; margin:20px auto; padding:20px; color:#3a3b33; font-size:100%; border:1px solid #ddd2e6; } a, a:visited{ color:#20211b; text-decoration:none; border:none; } a:hover{ color:#e63838; text-decoration:none; border:none; } a:active{ color:#ff0000; text-decoration:none; border:none; } #slider ul, #slider li{ margin:0; padding:0; list-style:none; } #slider, #slider li{ width:1000px; background:#fff; height:70px; overflow:hidden; border:none; } #slider{ border:none; color:#444; margin:0 auto; font-size:70%; margin-top:0px; top:-30px; position:relative; } span#prevBtn, span#nextBtn{ font-size:70%; position:relative; bottom:120px; float:left; left:10%; padding:0 8px; } .dream { color:#9f9f9f; font-weight:normal; } Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  16. Oh. That's easy. Thanks. It still seems like I'm being inefficient though. I have lots of pictures and my css code looks something like this: a#onetwo{ background:url("thumbs/00012.jpg"); } a#onetwo:hover{ background-position: -200px 0; } a#onethree{ background:url("thumbs/00013.jpg"); } a#onethree:hover{ background-position: -200px 0; } How can I combine the hovers into one declaration? Thanks again.
