Thank you MBWebDev, I take your point re "Anyone can throw together a page that will look O.K. in a couple browsers". This implies, I think, that it may not look good in some browsers. However, I have tried my site in all the free browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera, and it looks fine in all of them. Checking with a validator throws up many, many non-standard lines of code which would take an inordinate time to correct. The only reason I can see is to "future-proof". If that ever became necessary I would probably rewrite the site, but not until. The time difference between continuing to use an editor which throws up more "errors" and hand-coding in a difficult mark-up language is too great, I think, for the majority of amateurs (dare I say some professionals also?). I would welcome other developers' comments please. Gemma.

I've always been told that compliance will ensure that my code will be recognised by more browsers, yet checking virtually all sites I visit shows most do not conform in one way or another. Also, if you use an editor like nvu, (as I do), the code is anything but compliant, and I have never had any complaints! Is compliance REALLY necessary? Gemma

When a webpage is being viewed, I would like one of the images in the page to change after a few seconds to another one. Ie, say, 10 images displayed on a rotating basis. How can this be done in html or php please?
