  1. Based in the UK not overseas so will go down the legal and Trading Standards route. I think I've got a pretty good business acumen, hell being doing it for 18 years. As for tarnishing Web Designers with the same brush, maybe a little unfair but only passing on my limited experience. Used 4 designers in the last 6 years, the first 2 were great had no problems, the first one only built basic websites, he didn't do CMS sites which I needed as the website expanded, the second designer went into teaching and therefore had to find another web designer to move our website forward. The company we're talking about suggested using the much hyped Magento, not being a web designer myself took their advice but after 6 months they still hadn't finish the site. Approached some Magento partners to see if they could help all said it would be best to rebuild a new site as the unfinished site wasn't coded correctly and would run the risk major ongoing problems. I then had a reply to a post in December in this forum he said exactly the same and suggested building a new site using Magento, he seemed confident so decided to go with him. Gave him a deposit, but after a couple of weeks exchanging ideas he seems to have gone awol, not returning messages, etc. I have read many posts on Magento and unless you are pretty clued up then it can cause you problems but communication and trust is the key when businesses are working together. Hope you see my viewpoint of the 4 designers I've used 1 not delivered and 1 has gone awol! Did the usual thing checked porfolios, references, probably just been unlucky.
  2. Fair comment B but after doing a bit of research on this company found another sucker who had exactly the same experience. It's unbelievable the bull**** I've had from them over the last few months, just trying to do my bit which will save some other unscrupulous soul!
  3. Thanks guys but taking over 6 months to produce a half finished website does give you web designers out there a bad name. Maybe I should name and shame!!!!
  4. Thinking of getting an ecommerce website built using a little known shopping cart software Ecommerce Templates. Anyone with experience of using Ecommercetemplates, how does it compare to Oscommerce, etc? Leyton.
  5. Are there any regulatory bodies for web designers? Recently had a bad experience by having a poor designed and unfinished ecommerce website. Lost money with nothing really to show at the end. Thanks, Leyton.
  6. We have a part finished Magento Ecommerce website, any experienced designers/programmers out there interseted in completing the website? Finally given up with our current designers, they have been working on it since April and were originally given a 6 weeks completion timescale . Will also require hosting. Thanks, Leyton.
