PHP/mysql connecting the two.
hello, I am new to programming and its going ummmmmmmmm "swimmingly" however, I am having trouble grasping the concept of connecting a form to the database. In other words, a new user registers and is then entered into the database. can someone give a simple explanation to the steps and coding necessary?

Question about databases (if that's the right term) i.e. last.fm
First off thank you in advance for your help. I am trying to ascertain how to create a website that needs a database with a copious amount of info. For instance, such as Last.fm or Dictionary.com? How are these databases created and maintained? Is each entry hand written or are they able to extract from other databases etc. ? Last.fm has descriptions for every artist etc. is the task as arduos and lengthy as it seems or am I ignorant of something?
