Thanks fisicx for the input about Wix and Moberise and offer of help, much appreciated. From what you have all said it sounds as though Wordpress is the way to go so I will take your collective advice and try and rebuild a new website using that. Go Daddy is our webhost and I believe that they have Wordpress templates that I can use so I will take a look when I go back to work and do as James suggests and buy a book to help me along. No doubt if I search the web I will find videos to possibly also help me along the way. If I get stuck I may well take you up on your offer of help. Thanks again

Hi Dap, thank you for taking the time to look over my website and for your constructive criticism which I have found very useful ☺ I totally agree with you about the 90's elements, the site is far too cluttered and long due an overhaul so perhaps this is all for the best! I've taken on board your comments about the overuse of italics as well. I had tried to stick to a font that is supposedly web friendly, so mainly Georgia as I was worried if I used an unusual font type that it would then not be displayed correctly on viewwrs devices. Unfortunately budget does come into the equation as our fishery is just a small family business with the website being used more for info than to gain customers although obviously it helps if we do. I have taken a look at Mobirise drag and drop website builder but found it quite restricting but then maybe that is a good thing. I do appreciate that it would seem that it is a case of less is more. It is just difficult as we don't have just the one price and one set of rules for all of our lakes so everything has to be repeated, albeit slightly different, so frustrating. I also wasn't sure how to get an ftp file from Mobirise to our Go Daddy servers so regardless of whatever I end up doing I need to put in some time to learn these processes, difficult when you already put in a full working day... Someone has also suggested that I try Wix, I think this may be similar to Mobirise. Times have moved on and it looks like I have a great deal of catching up to do! I will also see if any of the local colleges etc, do a web design crash course that I could keep up with. Due to lack of funds we can't afford a professional website soI will have to take a look at the Wordpress templates that you suggest and see if I can get my head around those. Hi, I'm Lisa and I'm new to the forum. I am hoping that someone can give me some advice as to what I am doing wrong. I don't know how to use code so I use Serif Web Plus 8 CD rom to help me make a website for my husband's business. It used to tick along fine as most people viewed it on their desktop but nowadays with so many different sized screens on different mobiles, tablets etc. I have become very aware that people cannot view it correctly. When viewed on different desktop and laptop monitors the site views ok but as soon as I try viewing on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 tablet or my daughters smart phone, the website seems to have a mind of its own. It displays totally differently in both devices. Some parts of the website are still fine and then some parts have just merged all over the place so that certain parts of the site are then totally illegible, so not good. I have the site set up at 960 pix width and 9000 pix height. The width seems to work fine for every screen I have tried so doesn't appear to be the problem. I have spent the last couple of weeks trying to figure out what I am doing wrong and rebuilt the first few pages of it as it was very cluttered before. I have centred all writing and read as much as I can online to try and add code to the body of the website without success, so ended up deleting it again. I have reloaded the new pages as a trial, it's not finished yet but still the website gets distorted. The writing on some parts of the website are overlapping horizontally down the page. I have left plenty of room above and below the writing and centre it, but still it is overlapping either other writing or photos. I would be very grateful if anybody could take the time to look at my code, generated on the whole by Serif with odd parts from myself and see where I am going wrong. One thing I have noticed is that paragraphs that are the exact same font and style that are on different parts of the website are displaying at different sizes, I don't know why this should be as on my web design screen everything is the exact same size and displays correctly. I am aware from reading online that there doesn't seem to be a one size fits all solution to websites as so may devices have different screen resolutions.
