I dont want to complicate the original host but the statement above about you losing your SEO with a 301 is total nonsense. I currently do SEO consultancy for a over a dozen large uk businesses so I know about the topic. SEO backlinks are "one" of the most important aspects to your ranking so when Google sees these backlinks looking for "domain 1" but "domain 1" has been redirected to "domain 2" your backlinks will go to "domain 2" therefore your SEO from the backlinks factor is carried over to the domain with the 301. Your domain authority such as age will be lost but a careful 301 strategy done correctly can work just fine. Hope the above helps.
