Thank you both. You both make valid points. The online learning is the way I want to go. The books I want because I'm going away over this next bank holiday and will have a few hours offline while traveling. Im no longer confused in the way forward thanks to both of you. Your information is great.

I started my first bit of coding yesterday, trying out code academy to get some basics before paying for my treehouse course. Iv done some reading up and as a complete beginner I've decided in HTML and CSS. I came across XHTML, html4 and html5. I am about to purchase some books and was just wondering if I'm on the right track. Can someone confirm if I'm right in going for HTML and CSS or any of the others I mention. Thanks.
  5. Thanks ciao. Thanks rbrtsmith. I have been looking at treehouse. Also found pootlepress need to do a bit of reading on both because I'm unsure what would be better for me.
  6. Hello my name is Rob. I have a lot of interest in computers and how they work. I work full time and in the last couple of years have been spending my spare time learning to build computers. Recently my attention has turned to websites, how to build them and maintain them. My farther has recently had a website site built for him and in my opinion it's not very good. I find it complicated, slow not very user friendly. This has prompted me to take my skills to the next level. I like to learn and I would like to do online courses in the evenings. Hopefully one day I can be sharing that knowledge with other people. My journey starts here.
