  1. Hi, I'm Steve and I've been doing some low level design and development for a few years now (no paid work). I wish to start my own freelance design and development business. I'm in full time employment and intend to remain so for the next six years However, 1 January 2020 is when I will (hopefully) leave the rat race and take this up full time, I know this would appear to be a long way off but I intend to spend the time developing my skills through training and providing a free services to small business and charities, in the hope of building a portfolio. I have been trawling the forum and I have found extensive valuable advise and information, but I think I may be suffering from information overload. I want to do things right and have developed a sequence of events I wish to follow to maximise my time and ensure that my business gets the best possible start. I know most of you have been through this process and I would appreciate any feedback or advise. This is it in a nut shell: Market research and understanding the industry. This is the phase I am currently in and as stated I am suffering from massive information overload. I will take my time in this phase I want to ensure I have all of the information and can make clear informed decisions about the direction I want my business to go. Develop the brand. Build the website and develop the marketing and SEO strategy. Provide free services. Continuation Training. Thank you for taking the time to read the longest intro ever. I Hope I have not posted in the wrong place and I look forward to your feedback and further discussion. Thanks in advance Steve.
