Hi all. Im barry a website designer from Dundee in Scotland. I design mostly small to medium sized business websites although I do have all types of clients from sole trader plumbers to large international companies on my books. I design sites from scratch and do not use WORDPRESS!! (i like how some website designers say they are designing sites when they really are taking wordpress templates and slapping a logo on them!! makes me laugh/cringe ) I have made my own CMS from scratch which is currently used on around 150 or so sites. I have a live demo of it on my server which i will maybe post at some point to let you all play with it if you like. I also provide SEO (and unlike most people who claim to provide SEO I really do provide SEO. I used to be 7th in the world for the term website designer and am still on page 1 for all my favoured terms). I have an office in Dundee but like to work from home mostly as im close to the fridge and can stop/start work whenever i choose.. Any way, intro over. i have been making sites for many years and 90% of them have no scroll in mobile devices because i mostly use a fixed width for sites. I normally use 1000 or 1020 pixels - a mobile browser will normally zoom the site if its fixed at these sizes. My sites look great on mobile devices but are not mobile websites. I have recently finished a full CMS for mobile devices which I will be launching hopefully shortly. Ill post in the forum when its done.

As a website designer in Dundee, I have noticed a downturn in the amount of clients I am getting this year. I have designed over 200 sites and currently have around 150 clients which is not bad considering im a 1 man band so to speak. I have designed my own CMS which really helps me streamline my design speeds and also the people who are using it love it! I think because there are so many people making websites now for very little money that the people who are a bit broke cant afford people like me to make sites so they either buy it to that crappy 1 and 1 my website or similar and they end up disheartened with it all.. I have also designed a similar system to the 1 and 1 system although according to my clients who have used the 1 and 1 system and are now with me, they all say my system is much simpler to use and much better for getting real pages etc on the go.. anyway before i go right off on a tangent, yes i do think the business of website design is in decline but as I have so many clients on the go right now, I can ride the waves while I design, invent, make something else.
