Hi! First of all I'd like to introduce myself, I'll be a frequent to this website during my web programming endevors. Ya'll can reference me as winnate. A little more information about me, my past, and what I'm currently doing: I'm a ninteen year old student, taking my generals right now to end up with a major in Computer Science, and have a huge interest in programming and web design, and want to learn everything I can before I even take my programming and web design class's, in hopes to be a star student that will stand out to the people who will help me further my career. I've started tinkering with HTML and Visual basic and such at about the age of 13-14, huge interest in linux from an early age and always liked to hobby hack, and have created websites in the past mainly for filesharing between friends and message boards. I'm currently undertaking a large project for a group of close friends who created an organic foods company, and I'm partnering up with a designer who has very little knowledge of programming to create a website for them. I feel confident I can either A) produce the necessary codes to make her design comes to life or learn as I go to expand my knowledge, as I'm confident in my ability to use my resources and my large collection of text books. Now my question, which is a pretty basic one. I'm approaching this with the idea that she create, by hand, the layout and specifications of the website, and as a programmer, I'd make whatever she designed come to life. I'd like to get her a template to be able to print off and use horizontally that would be a grid style paper, with appropriate sized boxes that would represent pixels. And all this at a scale that would mimic that of a website so her drawings would come to life appropriately. I would like to allow her to follow the grid in order to make it easier for me to get the exact layout. I know that could be made in photoshop (the pixelated grid paper), but as a new programmer for a professional website, I was wondering if you all had any tips that could help me get organized for this undertaking, and any advice on how to simplify the process between designer and programmer would be more than welcomed.
