  1. I PM'd you so you can take a look. Thanks Pat
  2. Thanks Pat, but which one is the way it should be done? My code says this <img src="../Images/Bendy.png" width="789" height="117" /></a></div> and it's the only image that has come up and the one below hasn't come up <img src="../Images/Bendyfooter.png" width="789" height="117" /> The flash buttons aren't coming up either which means it wont link to any of the other pages i've made. not making any sense to me
  3. Cabbage, you are a legend! "index.html" - that's what i needed. The page is up now and i've uploaded all the images which are .png, .swf, .jpeg files but so far they are not showing (just little white boxes with a red cross in the middle). This is probably another newbie error, i'll keep fiddling but if anybody has any other helpful advice then that'll be great!
  4. This is doing my head in! So i've uploaded all my pages on the the ftp page (do i need to upload all the graphics as well?) But still it is not working. Is there something simple and basic that i'm forgetting to do or am i just useless? Another question: When my web site is opened, how will it know what page to disply first? Thanks guys
  5. anks for the advice guys, both were very helpful however i've followed all the advice and still when i type in the url it comes up with an error message... Am i doing something wrong or does it take a fwe days for the url to be registered in my name and allow me to display my web page....i think it's probably me doing something wrong!! I have contacted one.com but they take 24hours to respond...frustrating. Thanks Daz
  6. Hi guys, Used advice from this forum to get hosting with one.com (nice and cheap) anyway, i'm trying to publish my first website that i created using dreamweaver but i'm not having any luck. The support people emailed me to tell me i could do it through dreamweaver itself but i've looked through all the toolbars and can't find anything that seems to do the trick. I'm sure it is really easy and after the first time i'll never need to ask again, but some neewbie advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Daz
  7. Thank you, thought that was the case and just did a bit of research Maybe i shoudl delete this post...embarrasing
  8. This is probably a brain dead question to all you experts but what is the difference between Macromedia Dreamweaver Vs Adobe Dreamweaver?? Is it that Macromedia did version 8 and Adobe did CS3? Just when i thought i had finally decided what software to get there's another random question. Thanks again guys Dazzle
  9. hhmmmm, so maybe i should start up a new forum named "does anybody have any college mates that have access to Dreamweaver?" lol
  10. Thanks but that's for an upgrade isn't it? I need the whole thing, from scratch.
  11. OMG - can't believe i didn't realise. I wonder if he does CS3?
  12. Thank you, that's what i like...solutions! Didn't think of the Dreamweaver 8 idea. Is it really just as good, becuase if that is the case then i'll just get that BIN on ebay for £19.99...bargin!
  13. could you please provide a link? Or are you talking about getting a copy from USA?
  14. Hey that's my potential seller you're talking about Well if you don't ask you don't get. They'll be somebody, i'll just wait patiently
  15. I thought i'd ask as there must be somebody out there that has bought a copy and then ended up not using it. Re-cycling is a good thing
  16. Ah, didn't realise that. I thought i could do it without that but looks like i'll have to go forth and purchase the software. Thanks for the offer of having a look, i would if it was a more important logo but it's just my first test site. Cheers Daz
  17. Dreamweaver 2004...that's probably ancient but i found a 30 day free download so i'm trying it out before i go pro Simple problem i guess but i cant seem to do it.... When i inset my logo on my webpage i cant get the "white" around my logo to become the same colour as the background. So instead of looking really amazing, it looks cheap and nasty with a big white box around it. Any suggestions? Thanks Daz
  18. okay guys, thanks for the advice. Ferrari would be nice but ill just have to put the man hours in. I've been reccomended webuilder 2008. I downloaded a free 30 day trial so i'm going to try that out and see how i get on. If you have any comments on webuilder i.e. - crap or brilliant! then my ears are truely open.
  19. I'm still a newbie and i have just got all my lovely new shiny hardware.... Only problem is i'm still undecided on the software i should use. I was originally going to get Dreamweaver but i have been told it's not really any good by some people while others tell me its the best thing since sliced bread. Maybe a bit about me will help: No previous experience Initially want to design my own websites with a view of being able to do it as a career (if i so choose) Need to start designing good websites ASAP (time isn't one of my luxuries) Tall, dark and handsome (not really relevent but made you smile) If im still confused by the end of the week ill prob just buy dreamweaver and see how it goes. I'm just not too keen on spending all that money for a product i might not end up using after a couple of weeks. Can anybody give some words of wisdom?? p.s. - if i do end up purchaing dreamweaver, it's fine to purchase from USA right? that way it's only $350 instead of £350
  20. Great advice guys but just to confirm something: Dreamweaver = £300 - lazy way to design a website e TextEditor = Free / £30 - professional way to produce a website and more powerful Have i got that right? Becuase if i have then why would anybody want to waste money on WYSIWYG software?? Starange world. I assume e-TextEditor will take longer to learn but be more rewarding and the money i save i could buy some meaningless gadget that my wife doesn't understand, fantastic!
  21. Thanks for that bluedreamer, i was going to avoid vista as ive more bad things than good. Nice point about WYSIWYG software, can you reccommend any HTML and CSS packages to get me going, i am keen to learn as much as possible. ps - if you buy dreamweaver you can order it from USA and get it for $300 (£150), God Bless America!
  22. Hi Peeps, I'm a newbie and want to get starting designing websites. I'm about to purchase a new pc dedicated to my design work and not 100% sure what the most important spec is. I dont want to spend thousands so could you please let me know what i should be looking out for.......processor, hard drive, graphics card. Worst nightmare....i buy my spanking new pc, start designing and find out the pc isn't good enough to do what i want to do )o: bad times! Also...dreamweaver? Any good for a newbie, can i create amazing websites and ecommerce websites? Thank you all for any advice, im told this is the best place to be for good advice. Dazzle
