I don't know if anyone knowleadgable can advise ... I have a hosting account with 1&1 with several domains of websites which I have done for other people. I own all the domains and host all the websites under my account. I would like to transfer the domain and hosting to the owner of one of my websites so he can own the hosting and maintain the website himself. Simple I thought, just get him to open a 1&1 hosting account and I will transfer the domain to him. It seems that it isn't quite as simple. I asked 1&1 and got a reply saying they should open a 1&1 'free non-hosting' Instant Domain Package and I can then transfer the domain to them. I said it was the hosting I want to transfer as well (basically I don't want anything to do with the site) and they sent me another link to a 'Change of Account Ownership' which seems to involve transfering the entire account to them rather than the 1 domain. Does anyone know what I can do? I just want them to own their own hosting and the domain themselves. Thanks for any advice

Hi there, So I have designed some websites for people over the years (mostly friends of friends etc), I just used Serif Webplus to design them and 1&1 to host. They're just simple 4 or 5 page websites for small businesses like a hairdressers, playgroup etc. Now I want to 'pass them on' to someone else who can maintain/host them. Is there any way to do this?! I guess the other person would have to keep using Serif Webplus unless the client wanted a complete revamp of the site in which case it could be completely re-done using a different program. Can I move the hosting to someone else without any disruption to the websites? I need to keep my hosting account for myself as I have my own business websites on there, I just wanted to export the other sites to someone else's hosting. I've got no idea how to do this and if it can be done. Thanks for any advice.

How can I log into the hosting server? I have a server name, username and password sent from the hosting company. Thanks.

Hello, I need some help with something which I am hoping to get sorted by tomorrow when I'm off on holiday! Someone asked me to re-design a website for him. He wasn't happy with the current one which someone else designed and uploaded for him a while ago. He wants the new one to replace the old one at the same url. He has given me his account details for his hosting account, so I need to either delete the old site or overwrite it with the new one I have designed? I have tried uploading the new one but the old one still shows, I guess because there is now 2 index.html files? The hosting company are useless, can't even get hold of them by phone & they don't reply to emails! (Not yet anyway). How do I get the old website off of his domain name so I can upload the new one? Do I need to get the previous web designer to take his old one off himself? He is no longer friends with the old designer so that could be a problem! Any advice greatly appreciated.

Wow that'd be brill, I want to put it on a website I'm doing using Serif Webplus 10? A moving one if poss but if not a static one would be great, thanks again!!

Hello, does anyone know where I can get a free 'sparkle' logo?! Just like a light shining / reflecting off of something, that I can add to some writing. And maybe an animated one too? I don't mean one of the 'Myspace' type texts where the whole thing sparkles, but just a classy 'star' type shape? Thanks, yes I thought about that, but (with 1&1 anyway) you have to enter your payment details for the yearly fee ... I'd rather get them to enter theirs than me pay and then have to chase them every year for the money!

I have advised a few potential clients about getting their own hosting package and emailed them simple instructions about how to do this, but it seems to put them off and although very keen at first, as soon as I mention getting their own hosting & domain name sorted I don't hear from them again! Is there a way with 1&1 for me to set it up for them and then transfer it to them for them to enter their payment details etc, or another hosting company that does this? Thanks for any advice

Sorry, another query! With the CMSfromscratch ... do you create the website using their software, or create it in what you usually use, then transfer it to the CMS software to create the areas that the client can update? And how does the client update it exactly, they have to go to the hosting site (1&1 for example) and download the files to their own copy of CMSfrom scratch to edit it? Sorry, not quite getting it still!! Thanks again.

Hello, I'm using Serif WP10 to make a site and 1&1 to host ... if the website owner wants to log in and make changes themself to their site, how can they do this? Do they also need Serif or whichever program I used to make it? Thanks.

Hello everyone, Does anyone know a good place to find graphics to be used on a website, free if possible ... I am after ornamental art, scroll designs, flourishes, panels etc, a bit like the banner at the top of this page! And 'classy' looking swirls and art which, such as the designs at the top of this site: http://www.topnotchevents.co.uk/ I hope you get the idea of what I'm after, I'm going round in circles trying to find what I want! Which is the best product to download for this kind of thing, maybe banner templates as well? I just tried downloading the free versions of Serif pageplus / Drawplus etc to try them, but the downloads arent' working. Thanks for any advice!

Brill, thanks. That's what I thought. So the client would have it in their name and pay for it, (and the domain name?), but you would still need access to it to make changes / updates etc? So you would both have the username / password? And you would tell them which hosting package and domain to buy and then let them do it all themself?
