Thanks for the reply, that does sound like a good - and sensible - idea. I work full time on my sites at the minute, just writing content etc, but I do easily have the time to teach myself the basics I guess. What graphics software package would you recommend, I use Pixelmator at the moment but I understand that's probably not the best one to use! Cheers

Hi all I have recently left a long(ish) career in recruitment/sales and now I really want to pursue a career in web design. What's a little different about my circumstances is that back in January I built my very first website, and then redesigned it again in April to it's current state. I am also in the stages of building a new one now. Since building it (I use the term building loosely - I bought a theme and worked around that), I actually make my living from it and get around 15/16,000 hits a month already (it's an affiliate site) and it's growing every day. As I already make a good living from the site, with literally no previous knowledge of web design I really would like to look into getting into an organisation, even at a junior level, to enhance my skills and knowledge in all aspects of web design. I'm just not really sure where to start, or even if I would be able to be considered for a Junior/Trainee role with no qualifications and at my age (32). Even now my knowledge is pretty basic, I know a little HTML5 and I use Pixelmator on the Mac - that's about as far as it goes! I'd like to think I'm an intelligent guy though and do pick things up very quickly, and I've held senior positions in the organisations that I have worked in. I think though that with more experience under my belt in web design, it will help me to grow my own business in the long run. What do you guys recommend, should I consider going to college first and getting some qualifications or approach companies directly - if so, what sort of companies should I be looking at approaching and what roles? I'm not fussed about earning a good salary, it's more about the experience for me. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!
