well, the simplest way to get rid of the double border is to add a bit of a margin to the top for instance so they have a bit of breathing room in between each post. example add a line in your #blogbox -- margin: 10px 0 10px 0;

For what you are trying to do you will need a decent understanding of both PHP and MYSQL for the database queries etc. For the design youll need basic HTML with CSS. So if you have those you are good to start with whatever you want to make. On a plus note learning, Javascript and Ajax is a great way to call those "Information calls on each link" without reloading your site. But its not needed for what your trying to make! So if your a complete begginer start with the four basic ones: HTML, CSS, PHP and MySql On a side note as a fellow forum lurker stated above, might be a lot easier for you to hire someone for your project than to actually start learning on the different types of code, unless of course if your making these projects to learn web programming. Unless you already have one, you will also need a host that supports PHP and Databases.
