  1. I've realised in the last few days I have been pushing myself to hard and to quickly. I am going to focus on studying Javascript and then possibly onto another subject (such as PHP - as this currently seems to be the main language of developers). I will do websites on the side in my own time occasionally, probably for free, just to keep fresh with HTML & CSS. But for now it's time to study
  2. Hi everyone, my name's Elliott. I have recently studied HTML and CSS through an online course through the Open University, which I really enjoyed. I have also signed up to an advanced course which focuses on Javascript, though I am really struggling to balance everything with working full time (a necessary, unrelated job) and having a family. I have thrown myself in at the deep end and am marketing myself as a web designer, have even ordered some business cards, and really just trying to build my portfolio up, even doing work for free. I feel it's so difficult to change careers, especially when you have other responsibilities and no higher level of education such as a degree. And if that wasn't difficult enough, we also have to keep up with the ever changing industry and methods. I hope I'm not the only one who struggles like this! I guess thats why I have decided to join this forum; to speak to like minded people and some advice on how to keep up with the times and still have time to relax!
