:yahoo: Very happy this morning, good old google ! all my pages have been indexed, all titles and discriptions changed and even on the first page of a local area, took nine days just waiting for the verification code to change area on google places, thanks for your help xxx I feel quite chuffed for a novice at this malarkey lol x

Hi...last year I built my first web-site for our small business, since we have moved our business to a different area. I completely re-designed the pages and added all the required meta information for the new area ( titles and tags) I uploaded all the new files yesterday.My new site is on google but it's still showing the old discription and titles, I have submitted a new site-map to google and changed areas on google places ( have to wait to get verified ) Do I have to wait to be crawled before all the new information changes ? I have cleared browsing history and it still shows old titles and discription I have checked source for the site and all the titles and meta tags are in place.

Thanks a lot ,what appears strange now is when I was ready to publish my site I invited a IT consultant to help me,he has put a canonical tag on my index page( my home page) and it's not pointing anywhere,he just entered my web address,surely this needs to be removed and the canonical tag entered on my other pages pointing to my index page ?

The problem appears to be the navigation bar,it's generated more urls apparently ie: The page with URL "http://www.example.co.uk/images/img0001.gif" can also be accessed by using URL "http://www.example.co.uk/images/img0014.gif". So do I redirect them to internal page or just put a canonical on each page in the head ? Thanks for your reply I am new to this and finding difficult to understand ...do I put a canonical on each of my pages except my index page ( the one I want to use ) if you understand. Yesterday I downloaded microsoft IIS Manager and run it to check my website,it came back with several errors. 1) There wasn't any H1 on any of the pages,I have corrected this and added some H1 and H2. 2)It says there are 84 canonical errors and suggests to do this to correct them : Pick a canonical URL format for your site and then ensure that all the links in your site follow that format. (For example, always use lowercase letters.) If an external link that points to your site does not use the canonical URL format, use permanent HTTP redirection to redirect site visitors and search engines to a canonical equivalent of that URL. Am I to understand after reading a article yesterday that I need to add this to my pages in the "head Section" : "<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.sheergoldweddingcars.co.uk/index" />" and point all my pages to the index page ??? I am not understanding this at all can someone please help me out

www.sheergoldweddingcars.co.uk Thanks very much for all the replies,I have deleted the broken links which were graphics for photobucket and uploaded,when I first put my web-site on the net the title was "SHEER GOLD WEDDING CARS" and if I key in that these pages are still showing,since I have changed my titles to what they are relevant to "WEDDING CARS IN CARLISE AND SURROUNDING AREAS" and selected a different title for each page.One of my pages is on page 2 in google.I have made my key word strong and bold. Hello Guys,about three months ago we decided to start a new small business.Well to try and cut costs I decided to have a go at putting a web-site together with no experience what so ever,I bought some "WYSIWYG" software,after I downloaded it I couldn't even put a letter on the page,to cut a long story short I managed to build our web-site.Having no confidence in getting it live I invited a someone who is experienced to help me get it live,he came out and showed me how to upload to the FTP client and that was it. Its was going quite well and even reached the first page on google for a few days,it's on about the third now and a few other search engines.It's on places,on google analytics,and quite a few other sites,the problems I am NOT understanding are : I have since changed quite a few items in my files and have uploaded the new ones via FTP,how come I have all my old pages showing on the net,should I be doing something ??? I bought a product which generates my site map and submits it to the search engines ,it also tells me of any SEO issues,it suggested to have different titles for each page,I have changed all the titles but now I daren't upload again in case I generate more pages I have also made my meta tags either bold or strong,is this correct ??? Also after reading a article on here I realise I have no H1,H2,or any other I created a banner for the head of the pages,do I need to revamp ??? I would so appreciate some advise ....go steady though I'm at my wits end now Oh and to top it off I am aware I have about three broken links on my pages,I have addressed this issue but again I daren't upload again because of all these pages appearing on the net Please Help.
