  1. General question on becoming an Expert

    Hello Everyone, I just joined after reading through the forums here I believe I will learn quite a bit. I have done for the most part "template" stuff, not real programming. I know a little about HTML, CCS, PHP etc but I do not know how to tie them all together and build a great website. I would like to start at the beginning with a book that ties it all in together. I am looking for a book that would start off with explaining servers, FTP, hosting, etc. Then explain the langaugess and at the least the basics of each and how they all can work together on the same web page. Can anyone list a few good beginning books that might help me out? I saw lynda.com mentioned in the forums here, is this a good place to start? Thanks for any advice, Charlie
