Thanks for the welcome everyone. I got a virus (real one not a computer one!) and have been bed-ridden so apologies for the delay in responding.
Sogo it is curious stuff i'm working on here is my essay.
Basically i'm on limited budget and want the earth. I have an idea for something that can only be done in the uk at present and would appeal to people coming from other countries to the uk. So i need to have my site(s?) rank well in those countries.
When i first thought about it i was completely new to this and thought, get a .com and all done. It was during the time when i was searching for reviews of a godaddy offer i saw on the underground that i began to learn about hosting and stuff. I learnt that hosting in the same country as the domain is the ideal. AS you rank quicker, need less links, pages load faster etc. So i'll start with .co.uk.
Then I began thinking do I have to then create loads of websites for each country? Also does google treat stuff written in different languages as duplicate content?
This site is going to be relatively simple, so my cms should be straight forward too, and i want to pick one that is popular as i have a friend who ended up with a system no-one really knows and they are now beholden to their designer. I can now see it's a toss up between wordpress, joomla and drupal.
The site will have lots of pages with information but some will have very similarly worded content to get the adwords to cost less. I have read something about adwords and landing pages and quality score, so i'm also concious about duplicate content. I just need to know the best practice as to what to do with it.
Then with the analytics it's basically how to make it more useful than the default settings but that will be down the line when my brand spanking new site is up.
