Hello, this is my first post, bar the one I've just done in the introductions forum :-)
I wanted to ask you guys about software that you use to play with some initial layout ideas for a website. I don't mean the software you use to actually produce anything, but just for testing out a possible layout - to produce something to show to clients, but where you can easily jiggle bits about.
I can't find an application that ticks all my boxes. I want something that is a cross between an image application such as Paint .NET and an application such as Open Office Draw / Visio, but with extra views like you get in a 3D modelling application such as Maya.
These are some of the things I'd like to be able to do:
Bring in images, both imported and referenced so an image that can be changed externally.
Create shapes/lines/text boxes/etc as found in a drawing application.
Group things so I can easily move several around at once, e.g. a navigation menu.
Give meaningful names to individual things and groups.
Set the visibility of things and groups.
Control the draw order.
Control how these things are combined with things behind - like layer properties in an image application.
I'd really like a hierarchy view, like Alias Maya so it's easy to select/delete/group/ungroup things.
A view where I can set properties, e.g. transformation, blending, visibility, etc.
Does such a tool exist?
What do you use?
