  1. Thanks fatrabbit you have been a huge help.
  2. I've been asked by a friend to have a go at a website for them which entails LOTS of graphics (I'ts a website for a livestock stud). They want their background to be a photo of the property (although I'm not sure if they want that on every page or just the front) What size do I need to resize the photo to. Its saved as a jpg at a very hight quality level. I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 (and going crazy in the process. I have to learn html it will be a lot easier). P.S. I'm only just getting in to this so simple please
  3. Good point - it generaly tells me I have exceeded my number of connections but I have only 1 connection made?? I think I'll take it up with the host again. ta
  4. Thanks ZigpPress, I'm using active FTP although I have tried other settings as well. From the hours spent over the weekend the Dreamweaver seems to be a corrupted install so have upgraded to new CS3 version and is working like a "dream". As for why FileZilla has so much problem I just don't know. It seems to be far worse at night but if I'm up working at 5am it never drops out. I'm using Cable Broadband so as far as I know that shouldn't have an effect but maybe.
  5. Hi all, I have been prowling around here for a while now and have been trying to get going in web development. I now have 4 sites that I am working on / managing. Among other problems I'm having, my Dreamweaver(mx) has stopped allowing me to upload using ftp. I spoke to the techs and they said to reload my laptop. Well after hours of work - I'm not better off. It still doesn't work. I started using FileZilla but thats a pain to. It disconects after every page of upload. Does anyone have any better suggestions. I have purchase the dreamweaver CS3S but hav not had time to play around with it. Help greatfully appreciated. (a bit of background I used to program in c about 10 years ago but havn't had much time to play around with html - I think I need to go down that track a bit more) kjac014 - sydney p.s. thanks for all your posts I've found them quiet helpfull from what litte I have coverd so far
  6. Thank you for this that was my feeling, if the SE can't find you why bother! But I can't understand why Dreamweaver bothers to have it as an option?? Thanks I'll check out the website and delve into CSS. Kjac014
  7. Hi all, as mentioned the other day I'm new to webdesign (& Forums) and regularly feel like I'm running around in circles chasing my tail. I'm currently doing an online course in Dreamweaver MX which I started quiet a while ago and would not recommend to other. (Ive had a lot of trouble staying on track its very slow and boring) I've read a few arguments about the pros n cons of framesets. The websites that I set up prior to starting the course I did using Layers in Dreamwearver MX but that was only because that was the 1st way I worked out and the fact that having done a fair bit of work with graphics layers made sense to me. I was readings "Scott S" replies to "aijo" in the "Website Review section" regarding her "Tabled site" which makes very good sense, and got to thinking - What is the current industry prefered style for websites?? Is there any or is it just "what ever goes". All suggestions & opinions greatly apreciated. Thanks Kjac014 P.S. The more I read about Frames the less uses I can come up with for them. Please let me know if there is infact a "good time" to use them??
  8. Hi all, I'm glad I found you all, I have been trying to find a similar sight based here in Australia but no luck so the UK will have to put up with yet another Aussie. I'm relatively new to Web Design although I used to program years ago in C. I've started with Dreamweaver & Fireworks but sometimes feel like I am chasing my tail in circles and not sure I'm starting in the right direction. I currently have 3 fairly simple sights up and running and am looking to increase there appeal and my skills at the same time. One day I would like to work in web design as aposed to IT Support. Happy New Year to all. kjac014 P.s. this is the first forum I've been involved with so I will appologise now for not quiet getting it right
